EMFIS® is an independent third-party approvals body specializing in certification of EMF-safe buildings.

Our mission traces back to 2014, when the first EMF shielded residential complex was envisioned. The Cocon Schmitten landmark development, located in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland, was the first large-scale electrosmog-free housing project in the world (click here and there to learn more). EMFIS® is the brainchild of one the co-initiators of this pioneering project.

Following the successful completion of this project, in 2021, our team started developing future strategic plans, including the creation of a public certification standard. We strive to serve as a design support and assessment resource for all stages of the building lifecycle, from infrastructure to master planning.

Through the continual evolution of our methodology, based on scientific research, EMFIS® is positioned to be a leader in sustainable construction.

EMFIS® is part of the SNV, the Swiss standardization body, Electrosuisse, and the Sustainable Construction Network Switzerland (Netzwerk Nachhaltiges Bauen Schweiz, NNBS).

EMFIS® originated from Switzerland, the forerunner in EMF sustainability. Today, EMFIS®’s scope is global.
